The night was still in the Mojave Outpost. The stars were bright and plentiful.
Aaron Scott made his way to the bar and ordered a bottle of Sunset. He was in the midst of delivering a package to one of his usual clients in Goodsprings, but he hoped he would find a friend of his here. Or at least news of him. He took a swig of his Sunset and looked around for the man he knew as George Taylor. He expected hm to be at the bar.
(Fun fact: In the Greek alphabet, Nu's symbol is Nv)
George pushed through the front door of the Mojave Outpost, He had just returned from a patrol along the California Border with 1st Platoon from Dog Company, his company. Surveying the bar he spotted a familiar looking figure sitting on the far end of the bar, recognizing the weather beaten face George approached the man he knew as Aaron Scott, a Courier and one of his oldest friends in the Mojave wasteland. Walking up to Aaron he slapped him on the back,
"Fancy seeing you here Aaron, how ya been?" George asked, sitting down on the stool next to him.
Looking over at the bartender, "One Nuka-Cola for me ma'am and make sure its cold!"
Lachlan walked into Mojave Outpost and opened the door, Lachlan had finished his mission coming to the Mojave Outpost for a safe place to stay and to get supplies and information, He noticed George and Aaron at the bar and walked up to them
"I was kinda expecting you two to be here, how you two been?" Lachlan sat in the stool next to them and looked at the bartender "I'll have a cold Nuka."
Aaron looked to his friends and laughed heartily. "Haha! You guys, I hadn't thought you'd both be here! I'm doing great! And you?"
The courier was in good spirits, though they could both see new scars and an entire left sleeve ripped away from his duster. Though his Fleur-de-lis was still on his back in prideful spades. His weapons were also different from before; he sported a .45 Auto pistol where his revolver used to be and a .45 submachine rifle alongside his trail carbine.
"No not really I would say my journey has been uneventful but had to deal with some vipers here and there, But back in Utah before I came to the Mojave we were getting strange signals for about a week the only similar thing to it was a signal back in Washington."
Lachlan looking a little nervous as he somewhat knows what the source could be because Henderson had told him some classified details.
(I Think the Enclave would know about the aliens I mean they did have an alien blaster in the mobile crawler and a outpost by the truck with ammo in it)
"Like these?" he asked, rolling his sleeves up to expose his PIP-Boy. He turned on the radio and tuned it to what sounded like static at first, before something that sounded congested spoke gibberish before it went back to static... then repeated.
"What the hell?" George said as he heard the radio signal, "Me and my boys have been picking up that same noise on our radios!"
Looking about the basically empty bar, "I knew something screwy was going on tonight, I haven't seen anyone out on the roads during our whole patrol, we couldn't keep in contact with Camp Golf and I've been seeing these weird lights out over North Vegas"
Finishing his nuka-cola he went over to his bunk and opened up an old MRE, mixing in water from his canteen he ate the food and promptly went to sleep, setting his Battle Rifle and .44 Magnum down beside him.
From around the corner, an elderly man wearing little more than cloth wraps came into view; the street lamp glared off of his spectacles. Erring on the side of caution, he placed his hand on his sword and acknowledged the travelers.
"Nǐ hǎo, greetings to you. I assume you came from elsewhere: I have not seen you in Westside before. If you come for our meager selection of goods, I am afraid you are much too late. The shops are closed for the night."
"Damn, well in that case is there anywhere we can sleep for the night? Its been a long couple days on the trail" George replied, realizing he had forgotten to introduce himself George offered his hand to the old man, "The names George Taylor, Captain George Taylor, NCR Army, these are my two friends"
Recognizing that the trio meant no harm, Zhōu took George's hand, shook it lightly and bowed his head before introducing himself.
"I am Zhōu Wěi Gāng, part of the local militia. I am afraid Westside does not have many accommodations; there is the Casa Madrid, although I am uncertain that Marco will rent to you unless you also pay for "company", you understand? There are many abandoned buildings if you are so inclined to sleep on the ground; you may be fortunate and find an unoccupied bedroll."
Zhōu bowed his head to Lachlan and replied, "Suit yourself traveler. If you see anything suspicious, do not hesitate to alert us. Lately, the Fiends have not been as bold as they have in the past, but the Scorpions seem to be more... mmm, courageous in their thefts recently. I would keep my possessions under a close watch."
"Well thats all well and good, lets find us a place to hold up for the night" George replied, Turning to Zhou, "Say friend, me and my friends are up in these parts due to some rather odd occurences that have been happening, you wouldn't happen to have seen anything strange or out of place going on around here?" George raises an eyebrow at Zhou,
"Reason I ask is because Aaron and Lachlan there have been picking up some kind of strange signals on their Pip-Boys and we've tracked its source to somewhere in North Vegas"
Zhōu bowed to the final traveler and furrowed his brow listening to George. "Are you certain your radios are not merely picking up interference? My own radio has been overlaying static on Radio New Vegas since last week..." he muttered as he idly looked around the sky for a moment.
However, before the three could answer, his eyes widened and he revealed something strange had been happening. "Ah, yes, yes! Excuse me for my interruption, but a few nights ago, something strange did happen. It only lasted a few minutes, but... something happened."
Stroking his patchy beard, he continued with more details. "My eyes are not as sharp as they used to be, but I undoubtedly saw a cyan haze wash over the land east of the neighborhood. I went to investigate and the light drifted... north, toward the plateaus," he nodded as if he was confirming his own story. "When the haze was nearest the neighborhood, I swear I heard a faint buzzing as well... similar to a toaster: *bzzzzzz*."
He folded his arms and hunched his back in disappointment. "I told the other militiaman on the other side of the neighborhood but he merely dismissed me, saying I should not make things up. Tǐngjǔ..."
"Really? We've been getting alot of reports about strange lights appearing in the skies in this area" George replied, "As for the static, it couldn't be just his Pip-Boy the radios me and my men use have been having the same sort of strange interference"
Scanning the night sky, "Where'd you say you saw that light go? I'm willing to sacrifice a few hours of sleep if it means getting to the bottom of this" Turning to the group, "What do you guys say?"
Glad that at least one person believed him, Zhōu reiterated. "The lights headed north, further into Fiend territory; I can show you where I believe they went. I do not expect much, but if there is indeed something there, it must be a spectacle! Allow me to notify another militiaman that I am leaving for the moment and I will show you the way."
He sprinted off around the corner and returned about a minute later after a few murmurs between Zhōu and the other guard. "As they say, 'let's get this show on the road'," he said with noticeable excitement. Not only was he able to break routine, but people also believed what he said and he could prove the others wrong!
George followed Zhou, throwing his Battle Rifle over his shoulder.
"Say Zhou did this cyan flash...it look like it was coming from anything? I mean do we know what were dealing with here? The last thing I need is to get into a scrap with some crazy pre-war robot or jet or some other shit"
George scanned the dried rows of corn and the abandoned barn, his hand on the holster for his revolver he wearily squints at an empty barn, seeing that there is some blood spattered about the outside of the barn.
"Hey the barn over got blood on it's side" George said, "Ain't this where the Vipers usually hang out?"
Three men stood in what used to be a field, but now was just a clearing. Two of them stood over the other, who was kneeling down. All three were dressed in suits, but the kneeling man's was stained with dirt, the cause of which was likely the grave behind him he was forced to dig.
"Still think your so fucking slick?" of the men said to their captive.
"I'll tell you where the money is! it's all there!" the captive pleaded.
"You can't worm your way out of this, you little shit." The man on the right said, as he pulled a knife out of his pocket.
"I know that Frankie, but I want you to use a gun at least." Bayaraq told him, praying for a miracule
Bayaraq gladly took the offered hand, climbing out of the hole and looking at his rescuers. "Been better." he said brushing some of the dirt off of his suit. "Was doing pretty great in fact till about four hours ago." he ended this statement by nodding his head at the two men on the ground.
Lachlan whispered back to Zhou as he reloaded his pistol, "Yeah meet him a long time ago when I was in freeside with Aaron and George, but I left to get better medical treatment for a gun wound in my chest."
"Lose a bet Frank? Or were you just being your usual cheating self?" George said with a smile, "Either way these two are in no shape to deal any harm to anyone"
Looking at the two men on the ground, "And I'm willing to turn a blind eye for now because I'm on a much more important job right now" George said, "Also Frank this is Zhou, Westside militiamen that is leading us hopefully to the source of all these odd occurences around here"
"well, I was about to enjoy some company in my room" Bayaraq paused to pull out and light a cigarette "When these two came up, put me at gunpoint and brought me out here to dig my own grave." He inhaled deeply before blowing the smoke towards the stars. "after which i can only assumed they were going to stab me to death. Is that about right?" he asked the man on the ground, who was glaring at the group.
"You don't even know this rat's fucking nam-" the man started before Bayaraq kicked him in the ribs. "Ya lost Marty, just shut up like a good sport." he told him. looking back to the others. "So what are you guys doing out here anyway?" he asked, tilting his head towards Zhou in acknowledgement
Zhou bowed his head to Bayaraq and offered a minimalist explanation. "I was showing these men where strange blue lights traveled two nights ago, over toward those hills; it should not be much farther," he declared matter-of-factly, pointing to the north.
This interaction made Zhou pause for a moment, but given that the men weren't threats any longer, he simply pursed his lips, nodded to Aaron and continued walking north. Still, he kept a hand on his Gauss pistol until they are quite a distance from the farmstead.
After a five minute walk, the northern cliffs were in full view. A few Joshua trees poked up along the landscape but other than that, the area seemed plain... and eerily calm.
Bayaraq waited for a moment, before drawing one of his pistols and going up behind the man. "hey Marty." he said as he shot three rounds at him, all of them finding their mark at blank range. not even bothering to roll him into the grave, bayaraq simply let him fall into the dust and went to catch up with the others.
Seeing Frank shoot down one of the gangsters, "Now thats how you solve an issue"
As he approached the cliffs, he looked about the darkened ridge; not a sign of life was apparent. Then suddenly he saw something, a small quick movement behind a rock, blinking to see if his mind was playing tricks on him he grabbed his magnum from its holster. Looking again he saw the quick movement, followed bya faint chittering in some foreign language.
"Hello?" Aaron called out. He, too, noticed the movement and odd linguistics. "Dareka imasu ka? Nǐ hǎo?"
He wasn't sure why he wanted to try Japanese and Mandarin. The figures were obviously not speaking either of those languages. It was impulsive. He just wanted to run through his options. Of course, he wasn't a master of either language.
" What the fuck is there?" Bayaraq asked quietly as he drew both pistols and spit out his cigarette.
He thought about going around the side to flush it out, but quickly thought that to be a bad idea. Looking around he saw it was still open desert with the city to the south. If something happened he thought he might have a chance of making it.
Lachlan pulled his Automatic rifle off his back and gripped it tightly keeping an eye out for any movement, "Uhh Hallo, wer da ist? Salve?" Lachlan went along with Aaron's idea of using other languages but he used German and Latin, hoping it might be Legion soldiers.
Zhou struggled to see anything against the cliffs; the moon was but a sliver and it was too dark to make anything out. But he definitely heard the chittering, he uttered out of the reflex, "Wǒ zhīdào zhèxiē shēngyīn!"
"I know these sounds! They were on my radio two nights ago! Something is here!" he rambled, unshealthing his jian and lowered himself into a long stance, leading with his right foot.
(I'm sorry to all Mandarin speakers that I'm hacking up your language; all I have is Google Translate. :( )
Leveling his revolver, George scanned the cliffs. He saw no further signs of movement when suddenly a bright, heavenly flash of light shown from above.
"What the hell is going on!?" George yelled as he was pulled towards the heavens, his revolver suddenly ripped from his hands and the sling for his Battle Rifle was torn and the gun flew off his back. Looking around he could see the others being pulled up with him as he suddenly felt himself getting light headed, then everything faded to black.
Waking from his slumber George looked about the cabin in a daze. "Wazzzz the fuc happwentd?"
Shaking the haze from his head, George looked about the cabin, "Holy shit, they finally came back for me...those little grey bastards remembered ol' George"
Standing and going to the energy door he looked about the hallway, ignoring the conversation behind him. He felt his temper flaring as he remembered the night his wife, Alice, was taken, in a fit of rage he wound back and slammed his fist into the energy shield. Suddenly he burst into a flurry of kicks and punches all against the energy door, only stopping when he had worked the anger out.
Looking at one of the red uniformed workers in the hallway, "I'm coming for ya you grey little fucks!"
"Twenty-two eighties..." the voice repeated solemnly. "I've been in and out of cryo a long time, if that's the case."
Aaron struggled to get up. His weapons were gone. All of their weapons were gone.
"Where are we?" the courier asked.
"We're all trapped aboard what is properly known as a spaceship," was the voice's reply. "That's right. We've all been abducted by aliens. I know you won't believe me, but it's true. Just wait till you look out a window. Uh oh. Watch out."
Suddenly, overhead, a claw on a rail system moved over them. A man's fearful cries could be heard and he could be seen flailing as the claw went back to where it came from, the man in tow.
(Originally, one of the gangsters trying to kill Frank was gonna be snatched, but SOMEBODY decided to kill him in cold blood after Aaron healed his buddy.)
"Working on that one," the voice told Lachlan. To George he said: "I can hear you too. I can only assume you're her husband. I met her a few weeks ago, but they took her away when neither of us would do what they wanted us to.
"As for getting out, I'm actually a few cells down from you guys. I'm thinking... Pretend to try killing one another. They want all of us alive, so they'll come in to try to stop the violence. But be careful, they'll try to subdue you with batons that induce an electric shock. They're painful. Grab them before they touch you. I'm looking at two of them patrolling the corridor now."
Zhou was still a little frazzled from the tractor beam, but he figured he should listen to the human voice, now that he saw the alien workers milling about. He sized up the others in his cell and figured George was the toughest one there.
He entered into a low stance and faced George. "My apologies, traveler," he articulated before letting out a whoop that would put Bruce Lee to shame and delivered a weak roundhouse kick to George's chest.
While the pretend fight was going on Lachlan quickly asked the man on the radio "ok it seems like they started fighting but just quickly have you seen anyone on this ship wearing black bulky armor or anyone or anything with a symbol of an E with twelve stars surrounding it?"
(I'm bringing in a character I haven't used yet if that's ok, but she has been mentioned in one of my pages and an rp.)
"What the fuck is this?" Bayaraq asked, standing groggily. He looked around and took in the details of their situation. "God Damn it! I Should've let those jack-offs drag me to Golgotha!" he paused and looked outside the energy door. "What is that?" he asked, indicating a alien.
"Actually yes," the voice answered Lachlan. "I only caught a glimpse of her. She was in cryogenic storage. She might even be alive still, along with Mrs. Taylor. Ooh. Here's your chance."
The aliens noticed Zhou's assaulting of George and two came in with shock batons to subdue them. At that moment, Aaron sprang at one of them, dragging one down to the ground and wrenching the baton out of its grip. He then proceeded to shock the one alien wih his own weapon as the other tried to whack at Zhou.
George seeing that the aliens had fallen for the bait, grabbed the man assaulting Zhou by the feet and whipped him at the wall. The little alien flew at the wall, hitting with a loud crack as its neck broke. Going up to the alien, he slammed his boot down on the alien's head, splashing blood and brains on the wall. Then taking up his shock baton he moved to the door, peering outside as more of the alien guards ran down the hall towards their cell.
Zhou joined Taylor in looking down the hall and stepped out of the cell, looking to confront their captors. An alien swung its baton at Zhou, but to no avail as he sidestepped the attack. Being of such small stature, it was easy for Zhou to deliver a front snap kick to the chin of the little green man, who toppled to the ground.
He swatted at Zhou's legs from the ground, but Zhou merely hopped over the swipes, pinned the aliens hand beneath his foot and delivered a swift strike to the aliens head, neutralizing him as a threat. After seeing his comrade go down in seconds, the alien's partner attempted to jab Zhou in the groin. Zhou diverted the jab to the right, and followed it with fluid elbow strike to the aliens head, which caused the alien to instinctively drop his baton. Zhou kicked the baton back into the cell while the alien looked around, stunned.
"Now, to get me out, you have to press the large button with three nodes on each side," the man explained. Aaron complied and the force field lowered. "Thank you. Follow me. Our equipment should be this way."
He put his helmet on, again, very similar to a Veteran Ranger's, but with blue glowing lenses, and went towards another room with containers that slid open on either side.
"Sergeant Callan Barker, Salt Lake City Police Riot Division," he answered, pulling out what looked like a plasma defender, yet more chrome near the emitter, a police baton with chrome plating as well, and strange blue glowing tubes. "And if what you say is true, then I have been on this ship for over two hundred years."
He holstered his weapons and stepped away from the rest of the containers.
"So, did we win?" he asked the American-looking men, with a seemingly disinterested voice, as if tired.
(just edited because I didn't see steve's post before mine)
Lachlan walked out of the cell and followed the others, "Hey sorry I couldn't help much you guys looked like you could handle it anyway, oh and I...wouldn't really say we won it was more of a stalemate the government is still around to....kinda"
Zhou stared at Barker in confusion for a moment, wondering what could have been won... then he turned red as a beet, slowly turned his head away and remained quiet, trying to not draw attention to the fact that his ancestral country kinda sorta pushed over a row of nuclear dominoes a couple centuries ago.
Meanwhile, he withdrew the only jian in the container, but confirmed it was his by the red tassels tied to the pommel. He rubbed the dust and grit off the blade before he reached in and extracted the Gauss pistol and some stray energy cells.
"You could probably scrounge some from the waste disposal or storage areas," answered Barker. "Honestly, I'd detoxify myself if I were you. Addictions become a liability."
Aaron found his weapons and other equipment and donned them. The last thing he retrieved were his scriptures, which Callan noticed immediately.
"So the Church has survived all these years, Brother Aaron?" Barker asked Aaron.
"Scott actually," he corrected. "I'm from the Wente Bunker. A lot of us are there."
"That's good to hear. But enough chit-chat. We have to take the ship. We can do that from the Engineering Core. You might not have enough ammo to take on the aliens, by the way, so pick up their Atomizers or Disintigrators."
As they headed toward the Engineering Core, Zhou asked Barker for more information to help him strategize.
"These atomizers and disintegrators... they are energy weapons, correct? Are they like laser weapons or plasma weapons? Will I have time to dodge their projectiles?" he asked with his hand on his blade.
"How many are there?" Bayaraq asked suddenly, thinking about their odds. "There could be hundreds in this... thing." he finished by waving his hand around, still having trouble accepting the situation.
"Too many questions, I'll answer them in reverse order," Callan said. "Last count was two hundred thirty-six. The Cryo Lab is connected to the Engineering Core. And yes, they're like energy weapons you can dodge. They pack more energy per shot than laser, but they move quicker than plasma and are better compressed."
As he opened the door to the Engineering Core, over a dozen aliens, both armed with atomizers and batons, spotted them. Barker drew his Disintigrating Defender and opened fire.
Seeing the aliens George snatched his revolver from its holster, and placing his hand on the hammer he squeezed off six quick fire rounds in rapid succession, sending four aliens to the ground in pools of blood,
"I think they know we got out!" George yelled to Aaron with a sly grin,
He ducked behind cover on the right of the door, and began thumbing rounds back into his revolver as energy bolts flew past him.
Bayaraq drew his pistols and added their firepower to the fight. "Shit!" He shouted as a bolt flew by his head. He replied to this by focusing on two aliens on the left edge, filling their suits with hollow-points.
Even if he could dodge the alien's incoming energy bolts, he knew he couldn't dodge the bullets the humans were spewing downrange. He issued the command, "Hold your fire briefly!" before he vaulted the railing, sword in hand, and rolled a few feet forward on the ground floor.
He was surrounded by three aliens, two carrying atomizers and another bearing a shock baton. He took them by surprise, so he was able to perform a masterfully executed butterfly kick on the first alien; the first kick smacked the atomizer from its long tendrilled hand and the second connected with the aliens bulbous head; that alien was down but not out. Zhou finished the kick with a flourishing stab from his jian to the chest of the alien swinging the baton. The alien flailed a little more as green fluid, similar to mucus, flowed from his chest like a well.
In Zhou's skillful display, the other alien was able to squeeze off a shot, which crashed into Zhou's left arm and sizzled on the skin. Zhou hissed and ripped off his sleeve without a second thought, revealing the bubbling epidermis beneath it. The alien let off a few more shots as Zhou snarled and lunged at him; he swirled around the energy bursts, dove over the alien and swung below him. The jian effortlessly lobotomized the alien, who slumped to the ground even before the blade was completely through.
George still stood behind cover and watched Zhou's work on the Aliens,
"Holy shit..." George said astonished, He quickly thumbed the last few shells into his gun and leapt out of cover, aiming his revolver at the aliens he squeezed off two rounds, dropping two of the aliens. Ducking back behind cover as return fire came in George shouted to Frank,
"We better get out there and help the old fart out before one of those aliens get lucky!"
Aaron and Callan fired at the remaining aliens -- Aaron with his new .45 SMR and the other with his alien-adapted pistol. Once they were all incapacitated, Barker made his way to Zhou, taking out a tube of blue liquid.
"Hold still," he said as he rubbed the gel into the burn wound, making it immediately regenerate. "Anyone else need medical attention?"
"Guys, I found someone!" Aaron called from a room he located. Four someones!"
In the room in question, there were four pods, all cold to the touch. In those pods were people, all in some form of sleep.
(Opportunity for specific peoples to be rescued unless otherwise desired.)
Zhou was awestruck as he witnessed the blistered skin reformed and a soothingly cool tingle traversed his bicep and spread into into his forearm and shoulder. He smiled at Barker, thanking him for the first aid. "I do not know what that goo is, but right now, I do not care," he chuckled.
Wiping his sword clean on an alien's rubbery suit, he responded to Aaron's cry and entered the room. As he was bathed in the ambient blue light, he was dumbfounded. He looked at the pods and could only whisper, "Wǒ de shàngdì..."
Lachlan reloaded his rifle and picked up one of the alien atomizers then followed the others into the cryo room and could see somone familiar wearing recon armor inside one of the cryo tubes, Lachlan walked up to it and pressed the button next to it.
"I'm opening this one up I think this might be someone from Utah I know"
as the cryopod opened and the person inside unfroze Lachlan could see them more clearly and relized who it was and helped them out of the pod and shook them awake
Lachlan: "Hey Sarah wake up"
Sarah: "Huh...Lachlan what are you doing here where are we?"
Lachlan: "In space on an alien ship aparently how did you end up here?"
Sarah: "I Was on patrol duty at Phoenix I remember a blue light pulling me up and the base alarm going off, last thing I remember was getting put in this pod"
Lachlan: "Well your out now and were going to try and escape, here take my pistol" Lachlan gave Sarah his 5.56mm pistol and it's ammo
Rushing among the cryopods he spied a frozen figure that was his wife. He pressed the button to open the pod, his heart pounding as he watched her figure lose its frozen position, as the pod opened he reached out to grab her. As she unfroze she suddenly fell forward, limp and motionless.
"Alice...Alice?" George said holding his wife, George felt her neck, finding no pulse. "No no Alice..."
Cradling his wife's head he brought her head to his shoulder, wrapping his arm around her. As his hand held her head he felt a slight pounding below his fingers, that quickly increased. Looking down at her face, as color returned and her eyes fluttered open he rose and wrapped her in a massive bear hug, looking into her eyes he saw the women he hadn't seen in many years.
Alice Taylor: "George? ... George!" She leaned in a kissed her husband, returning his hug at the same time.
Callan held his PIP-Boy towards Sarah and Alice, a scanning light going over ther bodies from an emitter.
"Cryosleep sometimes kills whoever is frozen," he explained, nodding to Alice. "Nice to see you again, Sister Taylor. You might want to rest until your vitals normalize. Sarah, yours are fine, just walk it off."
He went and looked over the other two cryo pods. One was empty. The other had a teenaged boy inside, one in a German WWII uniform.
While the reunions were taking place, Bayaraq was looking around the room, searching everything he could for anything of value. He found little besides more power cores for his weapons, so he returned to the others
"Well we can't control the ship through these consoles. Normally, we could if the bridge was inoperative. So that means we have to take the ship by force. Lucky us, we have strength in skill. These aliens are scientists. Not warriors."
Barker pointed to a door on the east side of the Core. "That there is a cargo bay. Inside there is everything the aliens have beamed aboard. I've found plenty of ammo, weapons, and... Giddyup Buttercups... Never knew why they had those.
"Past their laboratories, there is an armory. Last time I was there, there were a lot of two headed bears and people with some spiked armor. I assume the local population of the 23rd Century?
"They're in the weapons testing lab," answered Barker. "And these 'soldiers' weren't really like soldiers in the sense they were entirely undisciplined and crudely armed. The bears just mauled them before their captors could test their weapons on any of them."
While Hoffmann and the Hitler Youth boy conversed back and forth in gibberish, Zhou laid his hand on Barker's shoulder and remarked, "I believe you are the leader here. Please... lead us back home, however you think you can. Are we going though the cargo hold or do you have somewhere else in mind?"
"Well if I can get the teleporters working, we can get up to the upper half of the ship," he said. "I would restock on ammunition if you're all comfortable with your weapons. You can go into the cargo hold without me. It's a general area. I'll radio you when the teleporter is ready. Any questions, ask me."
Barker continued keying in commands into the controls.
"If they got all that gear back there, then lets move out and get it! Alice we'll see about getting you a better firearm than my magnum"
handing her a handful of shells,
"Those are my last...and I'm not entirely certain how these alien things work"
Alice: "Its like this George", Showing George how to fire the weapon, "They have the trigger way down here"
"Ah thanks honey"
Looking over at the young German boy, Alice felt a pang of pity for the boy, tapping Lachlan on the shoulder; "Could you ask him if he knows where his parents are...or if he could use some food" Looking over at the young boy she smiled a friendly, motherly smile, "And tell him my name is Alice"
Lachlan looked at Alice "To be honest his parrents probably died a couple of houndred years ago it's unlikely they got brought up here, anyway we should find a way out of here then explain to him he might become a liability if I talk to him about it right now" he replied and then went back to investigating the machines
(anyboy else see the gun the 111 was carrying at the end of the trailer? It looked like a laser rifle attached to a hunting rifle stock, I was wondering what if we were able to take scraps of old or broken guns and combine them to make new ones? Now that would be cool)
(I think the whole Power Armor on the rack was getting repaired, perhaps we actually have to track down parts to repair armor rather than just find another suit? And maybe you can make modifications to the power armor to make it your own or inrease the protection it give you)
"Verwirrt und wütend" the youth replied shortly. "Sie scheinen nicht zu einem Soldaten, den ich je gesehen habe." He said, looking among the group again, his brow furrowing, trying to work up a explanation diffrent than aliens.
"Ich werde Sie so lange wie Sie vertrauenswürdig sind folgen." He told Alice.
"Gah!" Zhou blurted out in surprise as he attempted to wrench submachine gun from the Hitler youth's hands. The youth was on full alert and was ready for the so-called spies to make a move. Out of a six round burst, three bullets found their into Zhou's abdomen, and he collapsed to the ground.
(I actually rolled on dice on the disarm check and the youth's hit and damage to keep this interesting.)
Lachlan dropped his backpack and pulled his holstered alien atomizer out and fired two shots at his chest, one hits his lower left side damaging his left kidney, Sarah ran to cover and blind fired 3 shots at the youth soldier one grazes his right arm
Bayaraq, standing off to the side counting his cigarettes, drew a pistols, and taking aim, shot the youth in the knee, spilling him to the ground. The Youth dropped his weapon when he hit the ground, unable to put up with his various wounds.
"Jeez!" both Aaron and Callan shouted as this combat took place, both startled.
Both went to tend to the wounded. Aaron kicked his rifle out of the boy's reach and examined the severity of the wounds. He took a stimpack from his bag and kept watch of the Youth. "Lachlan, tell him I can fix him up if he'll not try to hurt us."
"Hold on, sir," Barker said to Zhou, taking a tube of Biogel from his pack and injecting it into his wounded abdomen. Regeneration was immediate, the bullets pushed out of the holes by the new flesh. "You may feel sick for a short time. I adapted these to heal and accelerate human cell regeneration, but there are side effects. Lord knows my mistake in tampering with these too long. You'll be fine, though."
"Thank you," Zhou coughed as the dark borders around his vision dissipated. Before Lachlan could address the boy, Zhou glared at him and expressed his true feelings to the group.
"You are trusting him after he shot me the first chance he got? We are not healing him just so he can shoot us in the backs later! Let us freeze him again and forget about him. Just think what would happen if he was on Earth!" he hissed.
Lachlan lowered his atomizer and looked at the youth soldier then at Aaron "You know he's just going to cause more problems he thinks were american spies I know it sounds bad but it may just be best to freeze him or.....kill him"
Barker shook his head and went over to Aaron, grabbing the German boy by the back collar of his shirt.
"Brother Scott, give him the stimpack," he ordered. "None of you are seeing the big picture. You all need to see something."
Aaron did so, injecting the stimpack into the boy's leg, regenerating the knee. Once the youth was able to walk again, Barker lifted him to his feet and pulled him into another room with uncompromising strength.
In that room was a window. The window showed them the Earth and moon below and the stars surrounding them. The moon was noticably larger than the Earth from this perspective.
Barker let go of the boy's collar and straightened out the wrinkles.
"Wir alle sind Gefangene. Die Furer ist schon lange tot , und der Krieg ist längst verloren . Es sind keine Spione und Sie nicht ein Soldat , wenn Sie keine Armee, um zu folgen. Glauben Sie frei zu sein wünschen?"
"After that little show I'm with Lachlan on this, lets put the kid back in the freezer" George replied, "Or better yet lets push him out in front of us and use him as our very own bullet shield"
Even Alice who had taken pity on the young German was taken aback by the sudden swing in the child, but couldn't agree to killing the kid; "George we're not killing the boy...why don't we just spank him, teach him why his actions were wrong"
Losing his edge from his wife's admonishment, "Yeah perhaps we ought to just beat the kid and be done with it, who has a belt I could borrow?"
The first thought that entered Zhou's mind was to decapitate the bowing youth. The opportunity was there, right in front of him! But then he recognized the solemn and blank expression across the youth's face, sober sincerity and noted the starry void behind him. He didn't know what Barker said, but it obviously got through to the boy.
Releasing the grip on his jian, Zhou stepped forward and bowed his head in kind, placing a hand on the youths shoulder. "It was all a misunderstanding... and I of all people know how a simple misunderstanding can destroy a life."
Lachlan holstered his atomizer then picked up his backpack and looked out the window to space and was somewhat mesmerized by the view. "Never thought I would see Earth or even go to space for that matter despite it being all messed up it's acctually quite beautiful, so now that all this seems to be settled lets try and get down there"
"Yes, Aaron, Alice, keep an eye on the boy and get him his weapons," he told them. "Sarah, find your power armor, and all of you, get a hold of all of the medical supplies and ammunition you can find. I'll monitor communications and make sure these aliens don't get the drop on us."
"Like I said, I am," Callan reminded George. "I think I can call in drones from the Factory to help us in here."
He went back to the consoles and started working on the consoles again. Despite these being in in confusing and seemingly impossible to read formats, he worked with intensive focus and as if he knew what he was doing.
(Better for it to be the latter. Mothership Zeta had only a few aliens in it's cargo hold. There still will be hundreds of Giddyup Buttercups in there for confusion and shock value :P)
"Time and enhanced intellect," he answered. "Too much experimentation and exposure to the alien biogel. I nearly died of head trauma once and had to use a tube of gel I tinkered with. It did more than fixed my brain, it enhanced it. I picked up on the alien language very quickly after that. Learning how to hack into these things became a cinch afterwards. I feel like Mister Spock without the emotionlessness. Cool, eh?"
"Hmm sounds very useful I should bring some of that stuff back for research but anyway should we get going?" Lachlan said as he leaned against a wall and took a few swigs of water from his Vault 116 canteen.
Callan looked at George and took off his helmet, his expression between dumbfounded and laughable. He settled on chuckling.
"Nope. Call him a figure of legend from three hundred years ago," he answered. "If any of them survived, I need to show you a few Star Trek holovids.
"Anyway, all of you, get going," he told the ones going to the cargo bay, putting his helmet on the top of the console and looking back at the screens and controls with his blue irises glowing visibly.
"Got it." Bayaraq said as he began to head to the bay. After several minutes of searching he stood and called out "Yes!' He had found a carton of unopened cigarettes, with the manufacture date reading May, 2075. Besides this he also found several ceramic plates that fit into his inside pockets, seemingly increasing his protection.
Rooting through the shelves of junk George was able to find a box of .44 rounds and two full bandoleers of .308 shells. Throwing them over his shoulder and tucking the box of .44 bullets into his pouch he ran off to rejoin his compatriots.
As he rounded a corner he was confronted by a small grey alien, the small alien was wearing a red workers uniform and upon seeing George promptly dropped the tubes of bio gel it was holding and went screeching back into the cargo hold. Chuckling at the alien's reaction he picked up the bio gel tubes and put them in his bag,
By the time everyone returned from their excursions in the cargo bay, two hovering robots glided around the Engineering Core with hefty looking weapons that could almost be mistaken for a drill. They made no actions registering as hostile towards the humans in the area.
Zhou greeted everyone as they returned. "I trust you all found at least some of the items on your wishlist? Mr. Barker was able to take control of some of these drones; they may give us the upper hand," he said pointing a stiff finger toward the meandering drones.
"Mr. Barker, have you made any progress with accessing the rest of the ship?"
"Well none of the major ship functions can be done without the Engineering Core, Brother Gang," he answered. "No Death Ray, propulsion, or shields. Not without my access code. In other news, I managed to activate a teleporter to the upper half of the ship. Science Lab. The Weapons Lab is above it, so you'll probably find your more advanced gear up there. The Mark IIs are probably up there if not in the cargo bay."
(I sure hope the Enclave isn't in Fallout 4; they got obliterated in Fallout 3 and they should die out gracefully. I want another "bad guy", not some genocidal faction that's been getting its ass kicked for the past 40 years.
Regardless of that, I an so fucking stocked for the new crafting system and the settlement management! Gaaah!)
(Could anybody else say Iron Man when the protagonist stepped into his power armor? Or when he had a jetpack? Freaking awesome. Though with that crafting system and layered armor system, now we get to look like how we want, hopefully. Trench coat, shoulder pads, and ballistic vest pls!)
That link may answer some of your questions Spock, but I have to agree with Kas the Enclave are an old hat that has long overstayed its welcome, if they do have a role it'll probably be extremely minor, like a squad of troopers who escaped up North after the fall of Raven Rock and Adams AFB)
(I would argue that the super mutants aren't really faction, and more of a background creature. The Brotherhood may be a bit overdone in appearances, but not in ideology: they've had different objectives in different games that don't make them so tiring, like authoritarian techoarders, the "good guys", a minor faction that is forced to remain hidden and they appear to have a different role in Fallout 4; on the other hand, the Enclave have been genocidal maniacs for two-thirds of the games they've been in, and New Vegas did them a favor by making them something other than that.)
(Well I suppose forcing people to submit to mandatory gentics checks, which almost all would fail due to exposure to background and actual radiation, and then killing all of those who failed this test (all of them) is a more liberal stance, then sure. However with the BoS in Fallout 4 it appears that they are in fact a 'bad guy' faction. Perhaps they are taking a page from Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel and making them a Fascist organization that is trying to take over the Boston area for the tech the Institute has.
In regards to joining the Enclave, it'd be cool if they implemented that with a small remnant group from the Capital Wasteland or from some of the troopers that escaped from Adams AFB. Perhaps they have been reformed like the Remnants in F:NV but thats up in the air)
(Aaaanyway... could we get back to the RP? If you guys want to talk about E3/FO4 more, start a forum in the general discussion part. Steve, can you have Barker lead the earthlings somewhere other than the engineering core now?)
As Barker glowed a yellowish pink and gradually de-materialized in front of the others, Zhou stepped back in surprise. Taking a leap of faith in Barker, he cautiously set a foot on the teleporter and tapped around for a moment (almost like he was testing the temperature of a pond) before he took a deep breath and stood firmly on the pad.
A second later, he felt a comforting warmness surround his body and everything around him was lost in a glow of marigold. His vision returned moments later and he found Barker standing over a slew of aliens, frozen solid. Zhou could only blurt out a single word as he looked around: "Wow."
Lachlan eagerly stepped onto the teleportation pad as he came out he looked back at the teleporter "So it is teleportation....this alien tech ceases to surprise me" Lachlan said with an excited look on his face. Sarah though a bit reluctant followed shortly after
George and Alice passed through the strange alien teleportation pad and stepped out into the room with the others. George stepped out first, Battle Rifle in hand, followed by Alice with her .44 Magnum. Both looked about the room and promptly lowered their weapons.
As the grenade detonated George kicked in the door to the hallway, leveling his Rifle with the aliens he fired off an entire clip into the frozen and still moving aliens, sending several to the ground screeching in agony.
"George duck!" Alice cried seeing a sole alien level his atomizer at George. George ducked instinctively and Alice sent two rounds into the little alien. Shoving the fresh clip into his Battle Rifle he continued to fire into the room.
Not having any idea of what was happening on the other end of the pad, Bayaraq took his place, and was soon in the hallway behind the others. "Fuck." he said as he drew the blasters, almost dropping one, the weapons still unfamiliar in his hands.
_ _ _ _
The boy-soldier appeared in the hall and ran next to George, before extending his arms and blindly firing around the corner
Lachlan and Sarah got into cover and Lachlan pulled out one of the frag grenades he found earlier pulled the pin and threw it into the room, the grenade exploded causing some of frozen aliens to shatter two aliens were knocked down and the alien closest to the explosion had it's lower body blown apart
Once the aliens were cleared, Barker exited his cover and led the humans toward another door. He stopped himself and took a deep breath, as if whatever was inside was a horrible reality. He took a remote looking device and commanded the robots to enter first before closing the door behind them. Loud blasting could be heard, as well as something that didn't sound like alien screams... nor human.
Callan opened the door after the howling subsided. Rows of operating tables with terrifying instruments made were in rows along the room. On those tables, strapped to them, were the bodies of aliens. These creatures were not clothed and had skin pigmentation suspiciously close to that of humans. Their craniums and hands were enlarged, arms long, and all blank eyed. The drones patrolled the room.
"Best to not linger here," said Barker. "There will be more of these things for sure."
He started walking down he aisle to the next door, quickly, head bowed as though prayerful.
Seeing the advancing abominations George leveled his battle rifle with one and fired a full clip into the beast. Next to him Alice fired on the other with her magnum, putting three rounds into the other. However despite their efforts the monsters continued to advance upon the group.
Zhou raised his pistol and sent two magnetic slugs screaming down on the abominations. Although they both made contact, they did little more than dent the armor and ricochet into the walls. Once he found that Friedrich Gauss couldn't help him, he began stepping back, looking to Barker for another plan.
The sentry drones fired on the power armored creatures, one tearing past its damage threshold with an explosive ball. The other swung his arm on the nearest drone, sending it crashing into the other.
"Grab the drones' cannons!" Barker shouted, charging at the second remaining abomination, sliding between its legs. Before it could react, Callan stood up and grabbed its forearms, straining to keep them pinned.
Lachlan ran over to the destroyed guardian drone cut the cables connecting the weapon to the drone with his atomizer then picked up the cannon and aimed it at the abominations, "Callan move!" Lachlan yelled as started pulling the trigger
Sticking another clip of ammunition into his battle rifle, he loaded armor piercing rounds. Leveling his rifle with the advancing mutants he opened fire, still finding his rounds to be bouncing off their thick metal armor.
Opting to not look at the ravaged experiments slumped on the ground, Zhou pressed on. He uttered as his nose curled from the scorched alien flesh, "Come! We can't stop here; we must secure the weapons lab!"
"Agreed!" George shouted as he ran past the corpses, "Goddamn! They were fucking with gentics"
George and Alice raised their weapons as they headed further down the hallway. Stopping by Lachlan,
"Lachlan, that armor rminds me alot of that devil horned shit you guys wear...you think they got more in the lab? That'd give us one hell of an advantage, but we'd need some Fusion cells to power them"
(I'm going with the Fallout 4 style of Power armor)
Barker took his Atomizing Defender and replaced its standard energy cells with optimized cells and slotted an especially bright, glowing alien power module into its handle, making a defined, high-pitched whirring.
"The weapons lab will have your power armor still intact," he said. "Expect more power armored aliens. Use armor piercing rounds if you have them. If your weapons need maintaining, coat them with this."
He handed each of them a nozzled tube of alien gell and stood ready at the door.
(More combat until they take the teleporter and reach the weapons lab. Anything goes. I won't describe every room they come across.)
The boy kept his gaze firmly away from the bodies, he saw the shyster almost through up, he already felt bad. His head jerked up as he heard the hiss of the door unsealing and opening, revealing another sqaud of aliens, all armed with Atomizers.
"schießen" he shouted as he did just that, taking careful shots
George slid back the action on his battle rifle and extracted the clip of ammunition and loaded in a clip of hand loaded AP rounds. Turning to Alice,
"Now honey I want you to stay behind me okay? If anything is going to happen, better it happen to me than you"
George began to move up the hallway with Alice close in tow, shadowing his movement. Out of one door sprung four more power armored hybrids, flanked by a squad of alien security troops. George leveled his battle rifle with one power armored alien and fired three rounds into its helmet, the depleted uranium in the rounds did their job and pierced the helmet's armor, dropping the user.
It was obvious that Zhou's weapons wouldn't do a thing to the armored abominations, so he would have to get creative. He took note that the abominations that fell at the hands of Taylor's battle rifle wore suits that had a number of tubes behind the body's major joints.
An abomination charged Zhou, savagely swinging a hulking haymaker. Zhou ducked and rolled to the side, dodging the heavy arm that crashed into the wall. He drew his sword and slashed across the hydraulic tube; a viscous brown fluid oozed and squirted out.
Without hydraulic assistance, the abomination's leg fell out from under it and it clattered to the sterile floor. Arms flailing at Zhou and trying to get back up, Zhou hopped over each swipe and cut the other knee tube, following it up with a swish through the tubes on the elbows. The abomination wasn't dead, but the armor was too heavy for the experiment within to use it effectively, limiting it to squirming around on the floor as it shrieked mercilessly.
Shoving another clip into the Battle Rifle, George surveyed the carnage. Keeping his rifle ready incase one of the aliens showed signs of life, he slowly advanced down the corridor with Alice in tow. As he stepped around the corpses of the slain aliens he slowly motioned for his partners to follow him, advancing down the hallway.
One of the aliens stirred and before George could react he had bitten a chunk from George's leg, biting clear through his combat boots and ripping the chunk of meat away from his leg. George shoved the Battle Rifle into the mortally wounded alien's face and squeezed off five shots before collapsing. Picking himself back up he hobbled over to a wall with Alice's help and surveyed the wound,
"Hey Callan, got anymore of those alien gel things" George said feeling light headed, "Man this wound feels weird..."
"Might have to put some antibiotics on the wound we don't know what bacteria these aliens could be carrying" Sarah said worryingly, "We might all have to be put in quarantine when we get back to earth, don't want to cause a pandemic now do we."
Sarah then started looking in her bag of medical supplies for antibiotics.
Zhou addressed Sarah as she rummaged about, "Miss, correct me if I'm wrong, but we have human antibiotics. Alien bacteria may not even have the same cell structure or functions that Earth bacteria do... you could give it a shot."
Pondering, he said, "Still, I recall reading an old book in which the aliens were defeated simply by Earth's environment. Perhaps the same applies to bacteria."
"And if that don't work, we could always go to the Cat's Paw and catch something there to overpower it." Bayaraq smiled as he nudged the German Youth, who looked at him like one might at a drunk friend. "kann ich einer von denen zu bekommen?" he asked the gambler, pointing at the cigarette.
Bayaraq shrugged as he held the pack out. "Here." The boy took one and put it behind his right ear, as he began patting his pockets. He grew frustrated to find that they were all empty however. "Raum Schweine." He mumbled.
As George walked down the hall the door slid open, inside the room were three teleporters, one of them leading to the armory.
"Okay, I'll go first, Lachlan you follow then Callan, Aaron then Alice and Sarah with Frank and the kid taking up the rear got it?"
George stepped through the teleporter, arriving seconds later in the alien armory. Looking about the room he saw only a few workers scampering off at the sight of the imposing human, however to his suprise the room was filled with power armor.
"Damn I haven't seen this amount of tech since dad had his reunion"
Spying a familiar set of power armor he approached the suit and examined it, the model was Advanced Power Armor Mk. II, the hefty suit of power armor was scarred and scorched from countless battles from the past but it was still operational, all it needed was a fusion cell. Looking about the room he began to search for a cell.
"Holler if you find a fusion cell guys...guys?"
He turned to see that the teleporter had been shut down, along with every other teleporter in the room and up the hallway he heard the scampering of feet, and the chitter of alien voices.
"Gah, fetch..." Callan swore in the typical Utahn way, kneeling next to the teleporter and taking what looked like a small antenna with glowing rings at the head from his Pipboy and holding it over the pad. "They cut the power to the teleporters, we'll have to take the stairs, c'mon! There's no telling what trap they set for him!"
Barker clipped the scanning module back to his Pipboy and drew his Defender, starting to run down the halls, following the map and schematics on his personal information processor.
"I am surprised these things even use stairs! I hope you know where you are going, Callan!" Zhou hollered as he continued after Barker. He kept his sword drawn in case the crew met any resistance, but still hoping they wouldn't.
Down in the armory George hugged the suit of ower armor he was using as cover, as laser pulses hissed and burned past he peered around and shot down two aliens in rapid succession. From above, several turrets added their own laser pulses to the fray, one of them singing George's leg as it flew by.
Peering around the corner again he fired off another series of shots and sent another alien to the ground, wailing in pain. As he withdrew behind the power armor a pulse shot narrowly missed his face, badly burning his face, burning skin and hair off as it flew past. As he recovered, and felt the cascade of blood begin to flow down his neck and soak his collar George snapped. Sprinting around the corner, he brought the battle rifle around and began to swing it like a bat, dropping several aliens and sending a few flying into the walls.
As the panicked aliens backed off, George brought his rifle around and pumped the rest of his clip into the surrounding aliens, another pulse zinged by scorching his arm and hand. Crying out in pain he shoved another clip into the rifle as he dove into cover. Taking aim he dropped a lone alien and then shifting his aim he shot two of the security turrets.
As he ducked down to reload his rifle, George felt his vision darken slightly and a wooziness set in, feeling a wetness on his leg he spotted a massive splotch of blood on his calf. Moving his leg he saw that a large chunk of his calf had been ripped away by a energy pulse and was bleed profusely.
Bayaraq ducked as an energy bolt flew overhead. He was in the back with the frozen kid that they're keeping. He sighed and looked to the side, and then nudged the kid and pointed. "Yeah?" He asked as he prued the cover off of a airvent. The kid barely fit inside, pushing his gun in front of him. Bayaraq waited to hear what happened.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
The youth pushed himself forward inch by inch. The shyster was clever he had to admit as he punched the panel down in front of him, revealing the profile of several aliens.
Seeing that Lachlan's shot was thwarted by a downright startling amount of aliens, Zhou clung to the left side of the door and fire off a few ferro-rounds toward the leading alien. The first shot shimmered as it impacted the alien's inertia suppression field, but appeared to push the alien back at least a little.
The follow up-shot whizzed off into the alien again, forcing a small spew of yellow fluid to escape the alien's mouth as it was knocked supine. It squirmed on the ground chirping and patted around where it had been shot.
Barker aimed with V.A.T.S., up at the alien squad, and fired a bolt at one of its rifles, causing the alien holding it to drop it and the rifle to tumble down the stairs and to the human's empty hand. He then holstered his trusty pistol and fired bolts wildly up into the squad, the sheer force of the bolts, but terrible spread, to impact their shielding, weakening their power and setting Lachlan up with another opportunity.
The aliens didn't even notice the vent panel falling in the commotion, allowing the cryo-prisoner to carefully aim before firing. The bullets found their mark; taking out a alien at the waist, and dropping his friend behind him. "Ja" he said to himself as he aimed again.
Lachlan reloaded the cannon and fired it landed a little short but the explosive ball disintigrated one and sent one into a wall and a loud crack could be heard as it's head smashed into the wall killing it.
Sarah aimed the pistol and fired five shots at the aliens three hit weakening them, she then reloaded the pistol.
George continued to return fire with the Aliens, however as he lost more blood his aim became less steady and Battle Rifles felt heavier with every passing moment. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a syringe of Med-X and injected himself, feeling the relief as the drug's painkillers coursed through his bloodstream, buying George precious minutes.
After witnessing over half of their squad get obliterated in mere seconds, the remaining two aliens threw down their guns. One dropped to his knees and cowered before the earthlings as the other hightailed it out of there, squawking and flailing its long tendril-like fingers around.
Callan ran up the stairs and took a device from the bodies of the fallen aliens, replacing the depleted power module and placing one on his belt. He spoke to the remaining alien in the alien's language, not quite so odd sounding with a human accent. He could almost be confused for a tribal. The alien nodded and deactivated the energy shielding around itself and handed the portable shield generator to the riot medic.
"Take their shield generators. We'll need them," he ordered the rest of the humans. "Tap the blue button when under heavy fire. Switch out the power modules when the shield can't absorb any more impact. Now hurry, George must be in trouble all by himself."
Zhou picked up the atomizer of the surrendering alien and tossed it into the vent occupied by the der Junge, completely out of reach of the alien. It wouldn't be able to get the gun even if it wanted to.
Reaching down and unclipping the inertia suppression field generator from a dead alien, Zhou muttered, "There: problem solved." Now that he had legitimate protection, Zhou unsheathed his sword and sprinted after Barker, toward George.
George no longer had the strength to continue to reload and fire his battle rifle. As his vision darkened he fumbled with the trigger of the Battle Rifle and promptly dropped. Sending it clattering to the ground, firing off a round into an alien's foot. As he slipped into unconciousness George grabbed a grenade from his belt, pulling the pin he tossed it around the suit of power armor and into the crowd of aliens. Blowing several apart. George's vision finally went black and as his breathing stifled, he collapsed.
Barker heard the exploding grenade echoing through the bulkheads. One more flight of stairs, fleeing alien engineers, and a two turrets later, he found George behind a suit of power armor, bleeding out and unconscious. He took a syringe of Med-X and injected it into his thigh before generously applying Biogel to his wounds. He watched the gel do its job and took his scanning module from his Pipboy to scan his body's condition.
He breathed a sigh of relief and stood up straight, clipping the module back on his wrist computer. He saw the carnage that this single soldier had caused and couldn't help but be impressed.
Looking around, various arrays of weapons and armor littered the racks and shelves; from the 10mm to the plasma caster, from leather armor to the APA MK2. This would be a good place to restock on ammunition.
"Alright, is everyone accounted for?" he asked his companions. "Where's Aaron?"
Bayaraq looked around, not remebering the courier since before the latest gunfight. He did however see something that caught his eye. Pushed towards the back of a shelf, almost as if forgot about, was a Grease gun and three loaded magazines for it. He put the alien blasters down and picked up the old machine, remembering seeing a few in use in Reno. "Think we should look for him?" he called to Barker
(I'm sticking with a back mounted power pack not the new Fallout 4 way it works if that's ok with everyone)
Lachlan took off his bag placed it on the ground and began to put on the APA Mark II with the help of Sarah.
"This is going to take a few minutes and I'm guessing it's going to take a while for George to get on his feet so are the rest of you going to stay or go get Aaron?" Lachlan said while he was putting on the power armor
"Actually, I believe he's onto something," answered Barker, his Pipboy's radio picking up heavy communications chatter from the aliens. "He must be near Teleporter Control... Aaron, I'm going to send you a detailed list of instructions, give me five minutes."
He located an alien terminal and started typing quickly, aligning the alien text in a fashion that made it look like English lettering. He spied a military issue automatic plasma rifle that the aliens seemed to be tinkering with, giving certain sections chromium attachments and the emitter array a set of blue electrode claws like a plasma caster. He finished typing Aaron's instructions and sent them to him.
"Check the terminal with a rhythmic beeping," he told Aaron as he stood up to pick up and load the Atomic Plasma Rifle with a microfusion cell. "Everyone arm themselves. If this works, we can teleport directly to the bridge of the ship and take down the captain. Pick up as many grenades, rounds, and batteries as you can carry."
Bayaraq needed no further encouragement, picking up pistols and putting them into his pockets, before taking them out and making his way over to an armor rack. It held a suit of combat armor, but it sported a pale grey paint job a Brotherhood logo over the chest-plate. "They tuned this one up huh?" he asked no one in particular as he made his way over and took it off the rack. Feeling the solidness of the armor, he began to put it on himself.
Lachlan put on the APA Mark II helmet the power pack turned on and the servos could be heard starting up. Lachlan looked around the shelf for something more suitible to his skills, he found a minigun and enough ammo for two ammuniton boxes. "Hey Sarah can you carry my bag please." Lachlan said while putting the ammo pack on his back and picked up the minigun.
Sarah nodded and picked up Lachlans backpack "Well I think were ready" said Sarah
"Good. Stand by the teleporter, all of you," said Barker, taking a knee next to George's unconscious body to take another scan. "Alice, I have good news and better news; The good news is that your husband is going to make a full recovery. The better news is that he'll regain full consciousness and motor functions in thirteen seconds."
"Several chemicals I can't identify, but works wonders when other medical chems are mixed into it," answered Callan. "Just don't mix Buffout and Mentats or you'll end up feeling sore, migrained, and probably dead. Alright, whoever feels ready enough to take the Bridge, step within ten feet of the teleporter matrix."
He went over to the teleporter itself and started fiddling with a panel on the floor next to it.
"What's going to happen is is that we're all going to be teleported at once. We'll rematerialize on the bridge and take them by complete surprise. Is everyone ready? Brother Taylor, I don't want you over exerting yourself."
Zhou ensured the Taylor made it to his feet and joined others by the teleporter. Looking at the rosy glow of the platform, he took a deep breath and sighed.
"It appears that this the end, friends. To what, I am not sure: the end of our captivity... or the end of our lives? It is a sincere honor to fight alongside all of you, and it is a greater honor to fight for Earth. Wǒmen yīqǐ qù róngyù – we go with honor..."
Bayaraq took out a cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag and holding it, before blowing the smoke out his nose. "Either way, let's at least kill all of these little greeen creeps as we can." he said as he unslung his Smg, holding it tightly.
Callan nodded and completed his adjustments to the teleporter and held up his plasmic atomizer rifle at ready.
"We're ready," he radioed Aaron. "Beam us up, Scotty."
A pulse from the teleporter created a ten foot energy ring, touching all that were within it. Immediately, the matter in their bodies was made into energy and traveled through the ship and out onto the bridge, fully restored and with Aaron materializing with them as well.
(Had to make that joke once. :P EPIC FIREFIGHT SCENE GO!!)
Barker immediately threw a cryo grenade through the doorway, freezing the lower joints of three power armored abominations before firing atomic plasma into the bridge at full auto before taking cover again, killing at least two of the bridge crew and starting to melt the armor of one abomination's power armor.
(Due to recent events, I will be taking on the role of George and Alice.)
Once materialized, Zhou tapped his inertia suppression field rig and became enshrouded in a wavering cloak of energy. George was surprised to see that his comrades had alien tech, but that was nothing compared to the three dozen (or more) aliens skittering around. Most of the workers squealed in fear, running to the back of the bridge. This sifted out the noncombatants, revealing around 15 alien guards or abominations – all of whom were drawing the weapons.
As Taylor spared no time in slinging lead downrange with his battle rifle, Zhou dashed out in front of him and rammed his jian into the grounded abomination. No longer armored, the sword slid cleanly in but Zhou still made a mess as he raked it across the abomination's belly, spilling worm-like guts that writhed through the gash.
As soon as bayaraq appeared on the bridge he started firing at the first moving thing he saw, which turned out to be the worker aliens. .45 rounds cut two of them down before he realized that the soldiers were ready to shoot. He dove off the pad to the left, landing roughly.
Callan replaced his drained microfusion cell and activated his portable shield generator before making another attack run, melting through the power armor of one of the frozen abominations and melting the inhabitant. He took a few hits, though it was absorbed.
"Find the captain!" he ordered, taking cover again and reloading.
"The one in the big chair, right?" Aaron asked, firing his .45 Auto SMR into the bridge, taking out few unarmored aliens.
George screamed... something... as he cut down a handful of technicians while laying into the last abomination. He wasn't really articulating anything, just acknowledging Barker's order. Alice timidly shot around the corner, afraid to stick her head out.
Meanwhile, Zhou had found himself in a bit of a pickle. An alien landed a lucky hit on his leg with a shock baton, forcing him to balance on one foot whiled he waited for his quadriceps to stop spasming. In the meantime, he force the little gremlins away in with solid palms to their face.
Lucky for Zhou, some of Alice's blindfire found its way into the security force, and Zhou's interia suppression field probably saved his life. No longer swarmed by aliens, Zhou jumped and rolled back to the cover of his comrades. He needlessly demanded, "Shoot them! Shoot them!" dropping his polite tone for the first time on this damned ship.
Bayaraq emerged from cover and started firing again, this time his bullets striking several aliens firing at his companions, two aliens dropped down, but the others turned their fire on the gambler, forcing him to duck back. The Cryo prisoner was overcome in his rage, and stood in the open as he hosed the abominations.
Callan and Aaron both tossed explosives into the bridge, plasma and dynamite respectively. The concussive force of the dynamite caught the captain, making him fall off his chair, while the plasma rendered a large group of alien security into green jelly. The power armored abominations freed themselves from the cryo frozen joints and started charging at the closest humans they could reach.
Lachlan fired at an abomination that was running towards using up the rest of the ammo in the box, the abomination took little damage "Sarah cover me I'm reloading" Lachlan yelled as he begun to reload the minigun.
Sarah fired six rounds at the abomination the burst of rounds slowed the creature giving Lachlan more time to reload.
George did what George does best: barked some obscenities as he reloaded and continued to fire. Seeing the Mormons huck out some grenades, George responded in kind. "Now there's an idea! Frag out!" he called out as he rolled a grenade into the control room.
It clattered into the crotch of a recently freed abomination still struggling to get up. Needless to say, that abomination was gone... and didn't have a crotch anymore.
Zhou took what small window of time he had to draw his Gauss pistol and send a slug zipping into the alien captain. The slug made direct contact with it, sending it over its command console to the lower level. It could have been dead... if not for the fact that second later, high pitched zaps screamed through the bridge and cyan balls of energy impacted with the teams cover, disintegrating parts of the wall.
The Boy was so caught up in his revenge that he failed to notice one of the alien guards, and was knocked from his feet by a blow. he traveled several feet, landing roughly and losing his weapon. The alien approached to finish him off. Bayaraq started firing, stepping towards the beast, but was struck to the ground, a Disintegrator bolt hitting his knee, tearing to the bone.
He dropped to the ground with a cry of agony, clutching his smoldering leg
(We should decide who gets to kill the captain now. Anyone have a stupid one-liner they're dying to say?)
The teams line of defense was broken as the last abomination, the one that George had been plinking, crashed right into Zhou. It was a spectacular tackle; Zhou was able to use his martial prowess and deflect some of the impact, but the two toppled to the ground all the same. Some quick thinking and maneuvering allowed Zhou to plant his feet on the abomination's chest; with raw power, no grace to be seen, Zhou launched it ass over tea kettle. As luck would have it, the abomination clattered onto the teleportation pad; it fizzled and disappears m
