Vault 1 is a Vault-Tec Vault beneath Angel Island, near San Francisco. Half of the population admitted were families of various Asian heritage, and the other half were of traditional Caucasian American heritage. This tested the levels of paranoia and oppression of either side, due to the fear that came about from the Sino-American War.

As the first of the social experiments commissioned by the US government, they wanted to test how Caucasian Americans and Asian Americans treated one another with a lack of established laws.

  • Angel Island was an immigration station where hundreds of thousands of Asian immigrants entering the United States were detained and interrogated in the 1940s.
